An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Sanctions & Export Control Manager to join our highly regulated Submarines business in Derby. As the Sanctions & Export Control Manager, you will provide advice, guidance and support on all sanctions & export control matters affecting the Submarines organisation.

As the Sanctions & Export Control Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the compliance and operations of Submarine programs. In this role you will also be responsible for compliance with global sanctions & export control regulations, drafting & monitoring approvals, classifying technology, leading compliance investigations, and training personnel.

What you will be doing:

  • Working with stakeholders across the Submarines business to ensure international sanctions and export control compliance needs are appropriately forecast and fulfilled to allow for seamless exports to customers, suppliers, and other business partners.
  • Drafting and maintaining all sanctions and export authorisations and supporting documents to support the export of parts, technology, and services, and ensure the full scope of business activity remains compliant to all regulations, terms, and conditions.
  • Support the business to obtain and inform necessary management information enable sanctions & export control compliance, for example, obtaining classifications from suppliers, providing guidance to engineers relating to data and managing internal tools.
  • Promoting the culture of export control compliance throughout the Submarines Business by teaching / coaching / mentoring employees on a day-to-day basis and assisting with formal instruction during training courses on export compliance unique to the business needs.
  • Support risk and assurance activities, investigations, drafting disclosures and correcting any compliance deficiency.
  • Collaborating with the wider Rolls-Royce group to ensure alignment of guidance when delivering the creation and implementation of Submarines sanctions and export control procedures, work instructions and control plans to communicate key compliance requirements.
  • Maintaining expertise and skills related to central sanctions and export control tools, such as SAP GTS, screening and classification databases.

Position Qualifications:

  • As a minimum, bachelor’s degree and/or  
  • Relevant experience of business areas such as legal, purchasing, sanctions, compliance export control, engineering, military service, commercial, and/or technical writing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced in UK, EU, Australian, US and/or other international export control regulations
  • Previous experience working within or implementing compliance programs
  • Understanding of defence, aerospace, and naval industry products

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines, you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place.

Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
