Our headquarters in Dahlewitz near Berlin are home to the company's Development, Assembly and Customer Service units as well as central administrative and strategic departments.
At Rolls-Royce, optical techniques based on temperature-sensitive paints are used to determine the temperature distribution in combustion chambers and turbines. For the evaluation of these paints, a measurement system currently at the prototype stage is to be employed, which analyses the reflectance spectra of the paints. Within the scope of this thesis project, fundamental investigations of this measurement system are to be carried out and evaluated.
Key accountabilities:
- Familiarisation with the subject area and literature review
- Experimental design and planning
- Test rig setup and execution of experiments
- Data analysis and presentation of results
- Compilation of findings and documentation
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of image processing, imaging spectroscopy, and technical optics
- Programming skills for data analysis (e.g. Python, MATLAB, or similar)
- Enthusiasm for practical experimentation and hands-on laboratory work
The scope of the topic can be adapted for a Bachelor's thesis, Master's thesis, or student research project; however, it should be designed to cover a period of approximately six months.
