What you’ll do

You’ll join our Engineering, Technology and Safety organisation, which supports all our different divisions. You’ll complete rotational ‘gigs’, gathering experiences across the engineering lifecycle and building capabilities such as mechanical systems, manufacturing, software and digital, electrical, materials and development.

These gigs could be within our central Engineering, Technology and Safety teams (known as ETS) or within our Civil Aerospace, Defence or Power Systems divisions. We want to give you a breadth of experience across Rolls-Royce to build your network, enable you to grow, and help you find the best fit in our organisation.

It means you could find yourself doing anything from exploring nuclear options for powering space travel, to helping develop exciting new demonstrator engines like our UltraFan. Or using data, technology, and AI to improve a power station's impact on the environment, test marine automation software, or keep our company cyber-safe.

You’ll have choice over the rotational 'gigs' that make up your programme, moving around our business gathering experiences. We want to give you as many options as possible at this early stage of your career. It’s all about growth, and how we can help you discover who you want to be.

Through a combination of digital learning, on-the-job training and practical skills development, you'll get to share your thinking, test your ideas, and start focusing on the work you enjoy most. This could be:

Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Submarines Engineering, IT & Digital, Electrical Systems, Materials, Non-destructive Testing (NDT), Controls, Electronic Control Systems, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, and more.

Alongside your rotations, you’ll complete a ‘Design & Make’ project, where you’ll work on a challenge set by business stakeholders enabling you to see the full engineering life cycle from design to manufacture. You’ll also gain practical, hands-on experience during a practical task in our workshop.

What’s more, you’ll get support from our leaders, technical specialists and your career coach, whose job it is to help you realise your full potential – not just on the programme, but beyond. You’ll work with them to create a personalised development plan, which could include supporting you in obtaining a relevant professional qualification further down the line.
